Description
The Greco di Tufo DOCG from Tenuta del Meriggio
Classification: Still white wine
Greco is a noble vine of very ancient origin. It is still widespread in Campania today but Greco di Tufo is a different cultivar that originates from Greek vines coming from the hill of Cicala, in the territory of Nola, and transplanted in the countryside of Tufo around 1660 by Scipione di Marzo , who moved from the hamlet of San Paolo Belsito to his wife's possessions, located in Tufo.
Today it expresses its full potential in a not particularly extensive area in the province of Avellino centered on the municipality of Tufo and seven other neighboring municipalities. The grapes are vinified in white; the fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in steel, at the end of fermentation the wine remains on the lees for a few months before bottling.
Wine with a straw yellow colour tending to golden with aromas of ripe yellow pulp fruit. On the palate it is very savoury and fresh with a remarkable persistence.
