The name Phaseolus comes from Latin and means "boat", probably due to the shape of the pods.
The origins are to be found above all in Latin America, even if the legume was already mentioned by Virgil, but it was probably not the legume as we know it today.
Borlotti beans are rich in phosphorus and a source of magnesium, minerals that contribute to the maintenance of normal bones and teeth.
